This website is owned and operated by The Fairness Centre Limited. These Terms set forth the terms and conditions under which you may use our website and services as offered by us. This website offers visitors general information about employment and consumer law in New Zealand. By accessing or using the website of our service, you approve that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.

This page has been prepared to explain our standard Terms of Engagement relating to any work we undertake for you on a consultancy basis.  

If you have any questions or are unsure of any of these terms, please contact help@fairnesscentre.co.nz before accepting this agreement or using any of the information provided to you.  We recommend you take independent legal advice before you agree to any contract.

1.1 This website provides general information about common employment issues and consumer law for guidance purposes only and should not be considered legal advice. It is advised that additional guidance regarding your specific situation is sought from our team, another employee advocate or a lawyer.

1.2 We reserve the right to change the information on our website at any time without notice.

2.1 Nothing in this contract or use of our services grants you any rights in intellectual property which we own or license.

2.2 You may print and download information from our website for your use, but only if you use the material in a manner consistent with their purpose and adhere to the disclaimer in clause 1.

​3. Advocacy

3.1 Where you engage us to undertake work for you, this is referred to as advocacy work.  This work will involve running a disciplinary process, defending a personal grievance, attending mediation or acting for you in the Employment Relations Authority. Or assisting in a Consumer rights situation.

3.2 If you wish us to engage our services, we will send you our specific Terms of Engagement that apply to that service and our Authority to Act. 

3.3 Those Terms of Engagement will apply to any advocacy work we do for you, including any current engagement and any future engagement, whether or not we send you another copy of them.​​

3.4 You acknowledge by engaging our services that the advice supplied is of a general nature and is not legal advice.

4.    Confidentiality

4.1 We will hold in confidence all information concerning you or your affairs that we acquire during acting for you and will not disclose any of this information to any other person except:

  • to the extent necessary or desirable to enable us to carry out your instructions; 

  • to recover any overdue accounts remaining unpaid one month after the settlement date. 

  • to the extent required by law.

​5. Complaints and guarantees

5.1 In the first instance, any issues should be raised with our support team via email at help@fairnesscentre.co.nz. We commit to responding within five working days and rectifying the situation wherever possible. 

5.2 No other warranties either express or implied by law are made with respect to these products.
